CREST® Releases Rectal Prolapse Module

Check out our newest CREST® Weekly Curriculum module, Rectal Prolapse! This module offers a review of the surgical management options and outcomes for patients with rectal prolapse. Included in the module are a narrated presentation, full-text articles from Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, and a brief posttest.

Objectives:

Deep postanal infections/fistula are a complex area often misunderstood. This module reviews the available literature on the topic from diagnosis, anatomy to treatment including strategies to prevent recurrence and complications. At the conclusion of this module, one should be able to:
1. Describe the anatomy of the deep postanal space and surrounding areas.
2. Understand the history of how treating infections of these spaces has evolved over time.
3. Describe common presentation scenarios of these complex fistulas.
4. Understand various treatment strategies including risks and complications of each.
